Hedi Slimane show California Song opens at MOCA

The Museum of Contemporary Art presents Hedi Slimane’s California Song, the first West Coast solo museum exhibition of the photographer’s work, on view at MOCA Pacific Design Center from November 12, 2011, through January 22, 2012. California Songspans the photographer’s “California period” and traces his explorations of cycles of urban youth culture and artistic communities, through installations of photographic essays, exhibitions, and publications.  I am so excited to see this show!  Great article in the NY Times today in the Thursday Styles section – see link.

Marisa Berenson – A Life in Pictures – A new book published by Rizzoli

I can hardly wait to see this new Rizzoli book about Marisa Berenson’s life that just came out. She is one of my favorite all time models not to mention actresses – think Stanley Kubrick’s Barry Lyndon or Luca Guadagnino’s I Am Love…..She has been a fashion muse to designers and photographers for many years and her life story – she is the grandaughter of Elsa Schiaparelli for one is bound to be fascinating.  It is written by Marisa and edited by Steven Meisel and Jason Duzansky with a contribution by Lina Bey – the last three all being people I know!!  I am sure it is amazing!!  Check out the link to not only the publisher below with more details but also a link to a piece from New York Magazine’s The Cut – one of my favorite blogs with a slideshow of ten images, including one with guess who?

Sam Jones – Vanity Fair Magazine – December 2011

Sam Jones has two great stories in the December Vanity Fair which just came out on the newsstands.  He photographed the young cast of the movie Hunger Games – the new movie from Suzanne Collin’s young adult books – the next Twilight wonder according to many in Hollywood and also Cameron and Tyler Winklevoss.  The Winklevoss twins claim that Mark Zuckerberg stole the idea for Facebook from them as told in the great movie The Social Network.  Please take a look on the Vanity Fair website for more of the images and the stories.  Way to go Sam!

I LOVE PUSS N BOOTS – What a good dancer!

I went to see Puss N Boots 3 D yesterday with my two friends,  Audrey and Isabel. We were all very excited about going and the Puss did not disappoint! It is fun for all ages and I guess that is why it ruled the box office for the second week in a row!

Karen Knorr – India Song

Last week in the mail I got a beautiful invite for a new show at the Danziger Gallery in New York. James always has amazing shows and he has a great blog – The Year in Pictures – that I follow. I was amazed by the image on the card because I love animals, cats of any kind in particular and am I dying to go to India. The very next day the NY Times did a story on Karen and this work and now I am even more interested in her and this group of images. Next time I am in New York I am going to look at the prints for sure! I think I want one!

Diane Vreeland – The Eye Has To Travel

A wonderful new book has just come out about Diana Vreeland one of the most fascinating and inspiring figures in the history of fashion. ” The Eye Has To Travel ” is written by Lisa Immordino Vreeland who is married to Vreeland’s son Alexander. It is the illustrated story or her life with over 300 images. My favorite part is the actual spreads from the magazines she most famously edited – Harpers Bazaar and Vogue. I love seeing the layouts and all the amazing images that she was a part of. It is a great book about photography, magazines and an amazing life.
