PORSCHE By Design: Seducing Speed at the North Carolina Museum of Art

I have to find a way to get to Raleigh North Carolina before January 20th 2014!

By all accounts this exhibition is amazing. Seeing all these cars in one space must be incredible. And the website for the show is a joy in itself for a Porsche fanatic like myself. The images and the videos as well as the site design are fantastic.

Check it out here.

Deborah Turbeville RIP

One of my favorite photographers passed away last Thursday at the age of 81 in Manhattan. She was a huge influence on many and I remember in the late 1970’s and 1980’s always looking for her highly original and sensual images in VOGUE and they mesermized me as did her first book Unforseen Versailles. See the NY Times obituary here

And a NY Times slide show of her work here

Lori Goldstein – ” Style Is Instinct ” How proud am I of my friend?

Well words can not describe how proud! I have known her since 1984 – I admire her on so many levels and consider her my family. And now this book which I was privileged to see in many steps and stages along the way in the three year process of making it happen is coming out this month. It has finally happened!! You can pre-order now on Amazon and it comes out October 29th.

Amazon says: It is a stunning anthology of the work of visionary stylist Lori Goldstein, whose interpretations of fashion and beauty have produced some of the most groundbreaking and iconic images in fashion and popular culture.

Style Is Instinct publishes for the first time in book form the work of one of the world’s most highly regarded stylists. With a foreword by Steven Meisel, it features more than eighty astounding images that she created in collaboration with the world’s finest photographers—including Annie Leibovitz, Mario Testino, Bruce Weber, Meisel, and many others—for fashion editorials, renowned advertising campaigns, and award-winning music videos. This striking volume captures Goldstein’s personal credo, which has come to define her work—”everything goes with anything”—and displays her signature style, from her unique way of mixing and matching print and color to how she uses clothes to create images that go beyond glamour to the metaphysical, spiritual, and natural worlds.

Four distinctive chapters—”The Sickness,” “The Divine,” “Harmonious Discord,” and “Pop”—present these imaginative realms in alluring visual detail, accompanied by numerous personal anecdotes that provide insight into Goldstein’s process of styling and her creative power, as well as the worlds of fashion, celebrity, and advertising. They highlight her talent for pushing beyond the edge of convention to create moments of individuality that transcend the norm as well as influence and transform our views on fashion, beauty, and popular culture. The publication of this extraordinary collection is a landmark in fashion and image making.

Wildlife Photographer of the Year 2013

A few years ago I was in London at the time of the exhibition of the winners for that year of this competition at the Natural History Museum and the images were amazing. It was a fantastic installation and they had a great ambient soundtrack with it that had animals sounds and music. I love these photographs becuase I love animals and because nature is astounding and they are so outside of the realm of the kinds of photographs we deal with every day.

Today on DeMilked one of our favorite daily blogs here at Eye Forward, this years winners were displayed so I thought I would share a few of these astounding iamges. To see more and learn about the competition, now in it’s 49th year, go to the Museum website at If you are in London it is a wonderful museum at any time to visit. I hope you enjoy them.
