Diane von Furstenberg – Celebrating the 40th Anniversary of the DVF Wrap Dress

If you live in Los Angeles I would highly recommend visiting this exhibition at the old Wilshire May Department Store building on Wilshire adjacent to LACMA. Not only is the installation amazing ( and who knew there were so many variations on the wrap dress ) the historical photographs and paintings from her own collection are a show in themselves. So great that show was mounted first in LA and that it has had an incredible turnout. It is on till the beginning of April.

Perry Ogden – Ellie Goulding for OUT Magazine

We love Ellie Goulding here at Eye Forward. Do you know her? She is an English singer-songwriter, multi-instrumentalist and actress. Perry shot her in London for OUT and the pictures are great!

Her singles Burn and Lights were in heavy rotation here in the office and her cover of Elton John’s Your Song is a keeper.

To see more about Ellie – here is her official website here

Sam Jones Off Camera new episode – Michael B Jordan

From Sam’s editor’s letter:

I also have great admiration for Ryan Coogler and Michael B. Jordan, the latter with whom I was lucky enough to speak for this issue. In Fruitvale Station, these two gentlemen created a film that transported me to a world that was totally foreign and yet strangely resonant to me. And Jordan’s acting allowed me inside the mind of a young black man with a completely different frame of reference on society than mine. The decisions made by both Coogler and Jordan made the artifice of story completely disappear, and I found myself in an experience that broke my heart and gave me hope at the same time. It is a testament to these two young filmmakers that this story – which became a hot-button media event – could be told with such humanity and universality. As an artist, that is some inspiring shit, so to speak. They set the bar pretty high, and I can’t wait to see what comes next for both of them.
And perhaps most heartwarming about our conversation was Jordan’s complete optimism about his future. This man has ambition, drive, and a youthful exuberance that is infectious. He is 26 year old who has been, for the past 12 years, focusing on his craft with intense respect and dedication. If even half the actors his age have this sort of reverence for filmmaking, then our cinematic future looks very bright indeed.

ALL IN THE FAMILY – My nephew Devon Halfnight LeFlufy – The new collection – Coconut Water!

From the press release and look book:

COCONUT WATER is Devon Halfnight LeFlufy’s sophomore collection after graduating from the Royal Academy of Antwerp last spring. The Canadian Belgian designer has become a critically acclaimed offering that stylistically joined the dots between Antwerp and London.

His AW14 men’s collection confronts Tumblr ADHD and the miasma of the Internet with its effects for our newfound
visual collective memory.

Creating his own monogram and reacquiring symbols and logo’s such as a hash tag, the Pepsi sign and a Japanese Yen from their abstract connection to a product and revealing them into his signature patchwork, showing that he is more interested in personal brand reincarnation than actual consumerist critique.

Devon Halfnight Leflufy is merely re-asserting what he does best making luxurious men’s clothing through eclectic choices, but still enjoying the subtleties of street wear, which reflects in his glossy see through rubber coats, impactful knitwear, printed dress pants and mohair faux fur.
