GUEST BLOGGER // Spencer Lowell for Elder Statesman
One more guest blog from me today – it’s Laura filling in before the Thanksgiving Holiday!
Spencer shot the first and only Elder Statesman retail location here in Los Angeles – it is so beautiful and designed in collaboration by none other than Commune Design. The store has been getting so much positive press from fantastic publications including Details Magazine, T Magazine and Style.com.
The store is opening just in time for some holiday shopping – perfect!
Take a look at Spencer’s images and the most recent article from Details here to learn more about the new hot space.
Hi there, Laura here guest blogging today for Eye Forward!
We are so happy to share this post for many reasons! First of all, this was the first published editorial we had worked on with Aaron Smith since taking him on earlier this summer, very exciting!
Second, we LOVE LOVE the subject! The above portrait is of Waldo Fernandez, a brilliant designer based here in Los Angeles (this was photographed in his beautiful home in Beverly Hills).
AND last but definitely not least, we are a big fan and frequent visitors of one of his projects here in LA… Soho House West Hollywood!
But of course, Waldo’s resume extends far beyond SoHo house. He has worked with celebrities ranging from the late and great Elizabeth Taylor to Goldie Hawn, Sean Connery and Brad Pitt. And has worked on commercial projects ranging from gorgeous malls, to Wolfgang restaurants and Four Star resorts.
His projects are all very meticulously curated and gorgeous – read the article here to learn more and see more of Aaron’s images!
Frank Ockenfels 3 – Marco Polo – A new Netflix original series premieres December 12th!
We will share more images from this shoot soon but this key art was just released so we thought we would share it with you all today. Frank and his crew traveled to Malaysia to work on this and we hear the show is going to be GREAT!
Please try to stop by to this signing for the wonderful new book on The Ackermans titled: Hand-in-Hand: Ceramics, Mosaics, Tapestries, and Wood Carvings by the California Mid-Century Designers Evelyn and Jerome Ackerman,
Witten, photographed and produced by our good friends Lisa Thackaberry and Dan Chavkin and with an introduction by Jonathan Adler and published by Pointed Leaf Press.
If you do not know about Evelyn & Jerome Ackerman this is the first monograph of the artists whose oeuvre was critically influential and is now seen as the epitome of California mid-century modernism. Sadly Evelyn passed away in 2012 but Jerry is still alive and well.
I missed the signing here in LA as I was in NYC but I did get the book and is great!!!
Congratulations Dan and Lisa!
To learn more about their work please visit the wonderful Ackerman website with a great timeline and lots of information on their work here
What Youth – Issue Nine – An Interview with Frank Ockenfels 3
A kind of amazing magazine that I never knew about asked Frank to do a story and interview with him – they knew Frank’s work from Instagram and it just came out and it is really cool – I can not link you to the article but the film above is from their site and about Issue Nine.
